Your Kappa experience doesn't end with graduation - you can find alumni chapters in cities across the globe!![]() When was Kappa started?Kappa, one of the oldest Greek organizations for women, was founded on October 13, 1870 by six women at Monmouth College in Illinois.![]() What is the time commitment?Kappa can be a relatively small time commitment. Each February, during recruitment, we welcome about 20-30 new girls.![]() Do I have a better chance of getting in if I am a freshman?None of the chapters have a freshman class, so they will be looking to fill that need. However, during recruitment, we also are looking for sophomores and juniors who are compatible with the chapter.![]() I have heard that legacies always get chosen during recruitment. Is this true?A legacy is a woman who has a grandmother, mother, or sister who is a Kappa. While we give careful consideration to legacies given their knowledge of and exposure to Kappa, the recruits who best demonstrate Kappa qualities are most likely to get bids on Bid Day.
